Douglas County School Board Director Wendy Vogel will not be running for reelection this November, she announced in a public Facebook post on July 26.
“It has been my privilege to serve in this capacity for the last 4 years,” she wrote in the post. “I am incredibly proud of all that we have accomplished on behalf of the students and staff of DCSD. Thank you for entrusting and supporting me in this role.”
In the post Vogel announced that she is supporting Susan Meek, a former DCSD spokeswoman who is running for Vogel's seat, District A, which covers western Highlands Ranch.
“Susan has been a mentor to me, someone from whom I have sought counsel and guidance while serving on the school board,” Vogel wrote. “I am confident that she will continue the forward progress our board has made.”
Directors David Ray and Anne-Marie Lemieux remain undecided on if they plan to run for reelection, Ray said in an email correspondence.
