Sculptor Patrick Dougherty creates immersive sculptures from natural materials — saplings and branches — and for his upcoming reveal at Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield Farms, it’s likely the materials came from on-site. He weaves the materials into whimsical and complicated architectural forms and the works remain on exhibit until they deteriorate naturally. The process of forming a large piece takes three weeks, and this new structure will be unveiled to the public on April 27. It will be placed in a clearing near the Earl J. Sinnamon Visitor Center, close to the Chatfield Farms parking area, at 8500 W. Deer Creek Canyon Road (from Wadsworth Boulevard just south of C-470, go west on Deer Creek Canyon Road — you will see the gardens/farms on the left.
