My Name Is: Matt Rinn

Castle Rock man left corporate career to pursue art

Posted

About me

I have been a resident of Colorado since 1998 and lived in Castle Rock for the past 13 years. I am a recovering corporate technology salesman now focusing full-time as a designing artist. I have two children, my girlfriend, Nanook our Pomeranian, Roxie our bearded dragon, and our beta fish, Wanda. I studied back at James Madison University.

My career change

I am a full-time artist. After 20 years of corporate sales, I decided to take the plunge a little over a year ago into pursuing my lifelong passion of designing and creating art. Since I was a child I have always loved to build, paint and draw. Self-taught, I have always had a knack to build or paint whatever I tend to conjure up in my head or images that inspire me.

My current project

My latest big project has been designing and building a custom rocking chair from scratch. I believe this chair will draw a lot of attention and inspire many conversations to come.

My hobbies

When I’m not at a cheer competition or enjoying time with my kiddos you can usually find me enjoying Colorado. I am an avid outdoorsman — mountain biking, dirt biking, camping, fishing, whitewater kayaking, snowboarding, surfing, golf and skateboarding.

My girlfriend and I love food and enjoy checking out all the great restaurants we have here around the Front Range. Lastly, I love live music and all the great venues in the area. Nowhere better than Red Rocks!

My advice

My mantra is “Inspire through creative ideas! Pay a little close attention to the world to see the beauty in everything around you.”
