Vote for the truth

"In times of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act."

— George Orwell.

Patrick Neville continued his assault on the truth and science at an illegal COVID-19 event at Bandimere Speedway. This is the same Patrick Neville who compared the efforts of Gov. Polis to protect the citizens of Colorado to the murderous tactics of the Gestapo.

So, let's tell the truth:

The COVID-19 pandemic has killed almost 200,000 Americans in 2020. The CDC recommends social distancing and wearing a mask in any public setting. Gov. Polis has the authority to issue the face covering orders pursuant to a law passed by the Colorado Legislature. Legislation assigning emergency authority like this has been approved by the Supreme Court as Constitutional time and time again. There is no constitutional right against wearing a mask to prevent the spread of a deadly pandemic. Mr. Neville's lawsuit filed against the State of Colorado is a frivolous publicity stunt that will cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Gov. Polis entered another executive order banning open fires to prevent the use of state resources responding to preventable wildfires. Does Mr. Neville believe we have a constitutional right to fire? Of course, this would be ridiculous as we all recognize the need to prevent forest fires.

Katie Barrett is committed to science and the truth and to represent all of the residents of District 45. Time to vote for the truth!
