Keep Thomas on the job

We should be proud that Douglas County was ranked the healthiest county in the country last year by U.S. News & World Report. Their rankings were based on 10 categories including infrastructure quality, economic performance, and public safety. As the managers of our local government, our commissioners play a large role in creating the conditions for this type of award. That’s why I’m excited to reelect Lora Thomas for Douglas County commissioner!

As commissioner, Lora is focused on achieving the right balance of strong economic growth and preserving our natural beauty and resources. She’s led the charge to expand water supplies in Chatfield and to raise an additional $220 million for roads without raising taxes. She’s fought against new or higher taxes by being a creative steward of our finances—partnering with the private sector — which has made our government efficient and community-focused.

Lora is committed to our safety. She was instrumental in committing $13 million to improve safety and mental health services for Douglas County schools, expanding the innovative Douglas County Mental Health Initiative, and increasing the sheriff’s budget each year.

During the COVID crisis, Lora has coordinated with Tri-County Health to restore normal business and community operations quickly and safely. Douglas County consistently has had far fewer cases, hospitalizations, and deaths from COVID than nearby Arapahoe and Adams counties.

Lora Thomas is a problem-solver with proven accomplishments who has kept her promises to us. Let’s reelect her to help keep Douglas County the healthiest county in the country!
