Castle Rock has canceled its Fourth of July fireworks show due to dry weather creating significant fire danger.
The town has been in a Stage 1 fire ban since April 21 and conditions are expected to remain dry and hot, which prompted Castle Rock officials to preemptively cancel the fireworks show planned for July 4.
Officials also warn it’s possible Castle Rock will move into a Stage 2 fire ban, which prohibits all fireworks displays, as well as the sale and use of private fireworks.
Under a Stage 1 fire ban, discharging private fireworks within the town is illegal.
Castle Rock plans to host the fireworks display at another time, when fire danger is not a concern and restrictions have been lifted.
