Letter to the editor: Other ways to be safe

Other ways to be safe

My life experience of 71 years tells me that some of these children, including David Hogg who already has all the talking points, are little wanna-be-activists that have had a tragedy fall right in their laps. If the laws and protocol that were already in place had been followed, lives could have been saved. I will not be one to say what David Hogg is suggesting won’t work, it might, but would we still be a free country?

Parents, if you want to put the odds in your child’s favor, tell them to report bad actors even if it’s just to you. Put them in a good driver’s training program, the one you think you can’t afford. Then take away their smartphone — driver’s ed doesn’t help if you’re texting while driving.

There isn’t anything worse than losing a child. Parents ditch your smartphone, too — children do best with parents.
