The NDSU chapter of Golden Key International Honour Society and Chick-fil-A at Castle Rock will host a Read for the Record event Oct. 6. The event will be held at the Castle Rock Chick-fil-A, 346 Metzler Drive, Castle Rock. Event times are 11 a.m. to 2 pm and 5-7:30 p.m.; the book will be read multiple times during each timeslot. Coupons for free Kids Meals will be handed out to all participating children.

Read for the Record (http://www.jstart.org/site/PageServer?pagename=rftr_homepage) began in 2006. Each year, the goal is to break the record for reading the same book (with a different book selected each year) to as many children as possible on the designated day; at the same time, Read for the Record works to promote literacy and education for all children. The 2011 event will feature "Llama Llama Red Pajama" by Anna Dewdney.
