A ducky sort of day

The 2017 Ducky Derby, the largest fundraiser for rotary clubs of Castle Rock and Castle Pines, came to Castle Rock on June 3 gathering families for a day of fun. Organizers improvised some from previous years — the Ducky Derby is typically held in Festival Park where rubber ducks are “raced” down the creek. With Festival Park under construction, the event was moved to Third and Elbert streets where ducks were tumbled in a cement mixer and then dumped into a tub. Children attending the event fished out the winning ducks. Event proceeds are donated to local charities chosen by the rotaries.
