Clerk and Recorder Jack Arrowsmith is inviting residents to be a member of the inaugural Citizen-Clerk Academy.
The academy will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. June 23, June 30, July 7 and July 14 at the Douglas County Clerk and Recorder’s Office, 301 Wilcox St., in Castle Rock.
While no cost to attend, academy seating is limited to 30 reservations. For information about the Citizen-Clerk Academy and to make reservations before June 9, visit http://www.douglas.co.us/clerk/index.html , or contact chief deputy Mike Acree at 303-663-7653 or by email at email@example.com.
The four-week course includes insight into the various functions and responsibilities of the clerk and recorder’s office. Participants with an interest in elections volunteer work, for example, will receive a tour of the elections division.
Participants in the Citizen-Clerk Academy will interact with management and staff members, learning through one-on-one discussions information about the various services provided to the public from this elected office.
Attendees will receive a review and analysis of the operating functions, challenges, statutory requirements and customer-service issues associated with positions in the elections, recording and motor vehicle divisions. Attendees will also learn of issues associated with the work of the clerk to the board of county commissioners.
Each participant who completes the academy will be designated as an “Honorary Deputy Clerk.”
