In honor of the county’s upcoming 150th anniversary, Douglas County commissioners announced a gift for the community.
The county on the fair’s opening day is providing free access to the fair for all visitors.
The 2011 Douglas County Fair is from Aug. 5 – 7 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Castle Rock. County commissioners approved free fair entry for the full day Aug. 5, which includes access to the fairgrounds, expo hall displays, community entertainment, show competitions, the livestock sale and two live concerts on the midway bandstand.
“In celebration of Douglas County’s 150th anniversary, as a county we are inviting all … residents to enjoy the fair for Free Fair Friday,” said Jack Hilbert, Douglas County commissioner, District 1. “We look forward to seeing you there to enjoy the fair and all the festivities.”
The county’s free fair access does not include entry to ticketed events such as the rodeo or carnival rides. The Douglas County Fair begins at noon, Aug. 5 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 500 Fairgrounds Drive in Castle Rock.
