Healthy living took a front seat at the Douglas County Events Center when the Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce launched the second Healthy Living Expo with a 5K run.
The day started early Feb. 9 for nearly 300 runners and walkers who participated in the Freeze Your Buns Off 5K run, which wasn’t nearly as freezing as most expected.
Whether they participated in the race or stopped for a visit, residents from Castle Rock and throughout Douglas County had more than enough to choose from at the event. Nearly 100 local businesses were represented at the expo, offering services from fitness clinics, food supplements and aesthetic living to area healthcare, hospital and in-home caretaking.
Craig and Jennifer Kincaid of Castle Rock made their second visit to the expo, as Jennifer Kincaid participated in the race while her husband entertained the kids, ages 3 and 7, with live demos and interactive exhibits.
Next year they want the entire family in the race.
“It wasn’t freezing enough this year,” Craig Kincaid said with a grin. “Next year we want them all to do it.”
The race kicked off with a visit from 9News sports anchor Suzie Wargin, who ran and announced the top finishers.
